You can join Zoom meetings using a standard telephone instead of computer audio. This is useful when you lack a microphone or have limited internet bandwidth.

Before you begin: You'll need the Zoom meeting invitation email or calendar event.

Find the dial-in number and meeting ID

Open your Zoom meeting invitation. Look for the section labeled "Dial by your location" near the bottom. This lists phone numbers by region.

Below the phone numbers, you'll find:

  • Meeting ID: A 9-11 digit number

  • Passcode: A numeric code (if required)

Dial in from your phone

  1. Call one of the numbers listed under "Dial by your location"

  2. When prompted, enter the Meeting ID followed by #

  3. If asked for a Participant ID, press # to skip

  4. Enter the Passcode followed by # (if required)

  5. Press # again to join the meeting

You'll hear a tone when you've joined successfully.

Join with phone audio from the Zoom app

If you're already in a Zoom meeting on your computer or mobile device but want to use phone audio:

  1. Join the meeting as usual by clicking the meeting link

  2. When the audio options appear, select Phone Call

  3. Follow the on-screen dial-in instructions

Switch from computer audio to phone

To switch audio during a meeting:

  1. Click the arrow next to Mute/Unmute

  2. Select Leave Computer Audio

  3. Click Join Audio

  4. Choose the Phone Call tab and dial in using the steps above

Use the "One tap mobile" numbers in the invitation for faster access on smartphones. These automatically include the meeting ID and passcode.
