CoolPay does not support 3D Secure authentication, an additional security verification required by some credit cards. When a donor's card requires this authentication, the payment fails with the error "Payment Failed - 3D Secure authentication required, but not supported."
Both the donor and the admin receive an email notification about the failure.
What should the donor do?
The donor should try one of these solutions:
Use a different card — Try another credit or debit card that doesn't require 3D Secure authentication
Contact their card issuer — Ask if they can temporarily disable 3D Secure for the transaction or if they have an alternative card without this requirement
Use an alternative payment method — If available, select a different payment option
You can reach out to the donor directly to let them know about the error and suggest these alternatives. The donor will have received the same failure notification you did.
Why doesn't CoolPay support 3D Secure?
3D Secure authentication redirects users to their card provider's website for additional authorization. CoolPay's payment flow doesn't currently support this redirect step, so cards requiring this extra verification will be declined.
